What is IFF?

The AIA Portland Intern Friendly Firm Program acts as a training and professional development framework created to assist firms in codifying and clarifying their architectural training and mentorship efforts for their interns.

By outlining a simple strategy of initiation, development and achievement, the Intern Friendly Firm Program helps firms create a structured “mentor-based” training experience.  Participation in the Intern Friendly Firm Program also assists management, architects and interns in fostering a supportive professional environment further improving technical proficiency and efficiency of design staff.

By fulfilling the requirements of the Intern Friendly Firm Program, firms set themselves apart in their commitment to fostering a firm-wide atmosphere of learning and shared knowledge for interns preparing to take their licensing exams and encouraging and providing support to those interns still completing the IDP process.
