Education and Events Committee (EE Committee)

The Education and Events Committee works towards COTE’s mission of connecting and educating Portland’s Sustainable Design Community. The Building Climate Impact Committee

The Building Climate Impact Committee grew out of the AIA’s commitment to the 2030 Challenge and the CO2 analysis component of the AIA Portland Design Awards. The Committee developed and currently maintains the CO2 calculator, provides outreach, support and education on CO2 analysis for buildings and interprets/reviews the CO2 analysis component of the AIA Design Award submissions. Other efforts include coordinating with the Energy Modeling Task Force to raise awareness of the role of energy modeling on projects and hosting awards for top performing projects in collaboration with the 2030 Challenge.

Code and Policy Committee

The Code and Policy Committee tracks major code and policy developments in Portland and the region. They interface with the architecture and design community through COTE to bring related news and perspective to the AIA and political world with a focus on sustainability and green building. Some of their work includes lobbying efforts in Salem, reviewing proposed code changes, coordinating focus groups, and other opportunities based on market demand and perceived needs.

Energy Modeling Task Force

This one-year task force has been formed to help lift the fog surrounding the energy modeling process and related building performance so architects and engineers can effectively work together to design buildings that meet the energy demands of the 21st century. The group is developing a “Best Practices for Energy Modeling” workshop series to help streamline the modeling process for architects and modelers and demonstrate how to achieve more reliable/accurate results.

Meetings: 16 March, 20 April, 18 May 2011, 5:30-7pm at Glumac
